This part of District of North Vancouver is reasonably conducive to those who travel by foot; many daily needs can be met by walking. On the other hand, biking is very hard in Kirkstone since the bicycling network is quite poor, and riding a bike is made arduous by the often sloping topography. This neighbourhood is not an especially pleasant part of District of North Vancouver for moving around by public transit. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. In contrast, travelling by car is very convenient in Kirkstone. It is convenient to access a place to park, and most real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway.

Kirkstone offers a wonderful selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy feel. There are a few parks nearby for residents to check out and they are especially well-situated, making them very easy to get to from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood. Finally, as there are few people out and about on the streets, this part of the municipality remains relatively quiet; however those who are near Trans-Canada Highway may experience higher levels of noise.
